Pamol “Painkillers”
“Even though the creative team aimed for a very traditional and even nostalgic feel with the animation, it was clear all wanted to steer away from the retro look and bring a fresh twist to the characters and overall look of the film.”
Riku Eteläkoski and Timo Iivari of Hasan & Partners contacted Piñata to create an animation for Pamol painkillers… for the big and small aches.
Even though the creative team aimed for a very traditional and even nostalgic feel with the animation, it was clear all wanted to steer away from the retro look and bring a fresh twist to the characters and overall look of the film.
Excecuted in true Piñata manner ™, the animation combined talents of 2D and 3D artist and compositors even though the end result was nothing but traditional 2D animation. Mikko describes the animation process: “The tandem bike and cycling loop was a good place to utilize 3D and take a more technical approach. Ville and Jani modeled and animated the bike in 3D, and a lot of the 2D animation was based on that. Nevertheless, characters and everything else was done frame by frame.” Meanwhile Jonna was working with Pamol print images and brought her own artistic vision and touch with colors and fresh look for the animation.
